As an educational tool, as well as a way for me to know what you’re talking about when you say Japanese words, let’s learn pronunciation!<\/p>\n
Japanese is the easiest language to learn pronunciation, because all the vowel and consonant sounds are always pronounced the same way. \u00a0Let’s look at the vowels:<\/p>\n
A – “ah”. \u00a0Think like how Boston people say “car”.<\/p>\n
E – “eh” or “ay”. \u00a0Just like Canadians, eh?<\/p>\n
I – “ee”. \u00a0Think of the ‘I’ in Pikachu or Suzuki.<\/p>\n
O – “oh”. \u00a0Oh, yeah, that’s easy.<\/p>\n
U – “oo”. \u00a0Ooh, I like it like that.<\/p>\n
Bonus: Y – Unlike in English, Y is always a consonant in Japanese and is only followed by an A, O, or U. \u00a0Therefore it is always pronounced how it is in my last name, not as “ee”. \u00a0However, I’m lenient on this one.<\/p>\n
